Films
- Die Hard
- We begin our journey through the "Five Days of Die Hard" with a look at the film that started the franchise. A holiday party in downtown L.A. is threatened by a group of terrorists and there's only one man that can stop them: a beat cop from New York.
- Die Hard 2: Die Harder
- Released two years after the original, Die Harder attempted to recapture the magic by giving us more of everything. Sadly, this film is more of a lump of coal than a bright, shiny holiday present.
- Die Hard With a Vengeance
- Five years later, John McClane is back. Back in New York, and back fighting against terrorists. This time the whole city is under siege by the mysterious "Simon", and John is drawn into the game against his will for reasons that will all become clear...
- Live Free or Die Hard
- After a long hiatus, the Die Hard series returned with the "analog" John McClane forced to take on digital terrorists in the Internet era. He'll need all the help (and luck) he can get to take out yet another group of bad guys.
- A Good Day to Die Hard
- And then the series fell right off a cliff. While most were iffy on the fourth film, no one is ever going to come to defend this fifth film in the Die Hard franchise. It's just that bad.
Video Games
- Die Hard (1989 DOS Game)
- Dynamix comes out swinging with the first Die Hard video game, but their ambitions really miss the mark.
- Die Hard (1990 Commodore 64 Game)
- One year later we had a remixed version of the DOS game, converting it into a more playable (but still not great) side-scroller.
Five Days of Die Hard 2019
- Air Force One
- Take a trip with us onto the presidential plane as terrorists take over Air Force One for the kick off of our 2019 "Five Days of Die Hard".
- Speed
- Keanu Reeves gives one of his best action performances as a mad bomber terrorizes Los Angeles in this crowd-pleasing Die Hard clone.
- The Last Boy Scout
- Bruce Willis returns with a movie that could be considered an unofficial Die Hard flick, if only it were better.
- Under Siege
- Steven Segal gets into the act with a film that's basically "like Die Hard, but on a Navy battleship." It also sucks.
- The Fifth Element
- Bruce Willis teams with Gary Oldman along side Mila Jovovich in a Luc Besson joint that pushes the Die Hard genre as far as it can go, right into the future.
Five Days of Die Hard 2020
- Under Siege 2: Dark Territory
- Segal is back, in an advanture no one wanted and even less cared about, but this time on a train!
- Speed 2: Cruise Control
- You thought trains were boring? Well the second (and so far final) entry in this series proves that cruise ships are even worse.
- Unstoppable
- Daring everyone to actually think trains are cool, Denzel Washington and Chris Pine nearly make that so in this stupidly watchable film.
- The Long Kiss Goodnight
- Geena Davis gets in on the action in this mid-1990s thriller that's so much better than everyone gives it credit for.
- Non-Stop
- Liam Neeson is a bad ass, as he proves once again, in this action-thriller set on a plane (because we haven't had very many of those yet).
Five Days of Die Hard 2021
- Lethal Weapon
- Riggs is crazy, Murtaugh is old, and together they somehow make the perfect police duo (within the universe of this franchise).
- Lethal Weapon 2
- Our two detectives return dealing with a massive South African conspiracy in downtown L.A.
- Lethal Weapon 3
- Riggs and Murtaugh team with Internal Affairs to take on a rogue cop and a whole lot of guns.
- Lethal Weapon 4
- Riggs and Murtaugh round into their finale with a rather lackluster immigration case.
- Broken Arrow
- It's Travolta versus Slater as one steals a couple of nukes and the other fights to get them back.
Five Days of Die Hard 2022
- Beverly Hills Cop
- Eddie Murphy leads this action / comedy classic that points the way for the genre to come.
- Beverly Hills Cop II
- Axel is back with another tale of revenge in the Palm Tree capitol, but also diminishing returns.
- Beverly Hills Cop III
- Axel goes to a crap theme park for a crap adventure in this crap three-quel of a once decent series.
- Toy Soldiers
- Terrorists take over an all-boys school in this gimmicky retread of the Die Hard formula.
- Cliffhanger
- Sly Stallone tried to get his own Die Hard in this goofy, silly, not very good, mountain climbing adventure.
Five Days of Die Hard 2023
- Home Alone
- Kevin McCallister has to battle against the Wet Bandits in this kiddie-focused Die Hard riff.
- Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
- Kevin is back, battling again against the (renamed) Sticky Bandits in this repetitive riff of the original film.
- Home Alone 3
- Alex takes over from Kevin, and the criminals get even dumber, in this threequel that should have been so much better.
- Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House
- Kevin is back, kind of, in this beyond medicore direct-to-video sequel that fails to amaze on any level.
- Home Alone: The Holiday Heist
- Finn is the new kid defending his home from a gang of criminals in this actually entetrtaining franchise extension.
- Home Sweet Home Alone
- This mean-spirited, years-late sequel no one asked for comes along to sully what little good will the franchise had left.
Five Days of Die Hard 2024
- Olympus Has Fallen
- The White House has been taken over by terrorists, and there's only one man for the job... the guy trained to handle just that.
- London Has Fallen
- The President heads to London, and terrorists attack, because of course they do, in this moderate sequel.
